My Assumptions

I see you as scholars through which all things are possible.  I believe in you, and I want you to succeed.  There is no such thing as an assignment that is too difficult, a test that you cannot master, or a situation that you cannot navigate with support. As such, we will strive to find success together. It is also my belief that we accomplish more together than individually. Therefore, give this course your best effort, and positive outcomes will be sure to follow.

Umoja Success Program

The Umoja Success Program is built upon the ideas of unity and teamwork. My Favorite proverb that captures the power of unity is  If you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go together – African Proverb.

Emergency Procedure

If an emergency occurs, please stay calm and collected during evacuation. Please bring your belongings with you since you may not be allowed to return to the classroom for some time.

Academic Integrity

Cheating is obtaining or attempting to get credit for work by using dishonest, fraudulent, or unauthorized means.

Plagiarism is taking another person's specific substance and offering it as one's own without crediting the source.

If you are found guilty of academic dishonesty, you will be assigned an appropriate academic penalty and reported to Dr. Elizabeth Miller, the Judicial Affairs Officer on campus. You may receive an F on the assignment, fail the class, and/or be subject to probation or disqualification from the Institution.

Conduct

Students are responsible for knowing and abiding by the “Standards of Conduct Policy” explained on pages 38-41 of the 2022-2023 Cerritos College General Catalog (Links to an external site.) Students may be asked to leave class if they behave inappropriately in a college learning environment. Behaviors such as texting, having social conversations, sleeping, doing work for other classes, and coming in and out of class during class time communicate indifference and disrespect for this learning environment. These activities are unacceptable in an academic setting and may result in being dropped from the class.
