Instructions

Converting between units is an essential skill in the sciences, and geology is no exception. In this exercise, you'll get some practice with unit conversions.

Learning Objective

Convert between different units of measurement.

Instructions

Please do the unit conversions by hand, then select the correct answer. To receive full credit, you must also show me your work. Do this by embedding an image that shows your work directly into the space in the message question. You can also upload an image of your work (although I'd prefer that you embed it) in one of the following formats. PDF and Word docs will not be accepted. You have two attempts and no time limit.

Acceptable image formats for uploading

  • BMP - Windows Bitmap
  • GIF - Graphics Interchange Format
  • JPEG - Joint Photographic Experts Group
  • SVG - Scalable Vector Graphics
  • TIFF - Adobe Systems
  • PNG - Portable Network Graphics

Time Needed

15 - 20 minutes.

I've included a Unit Conversion tutorial (it starts at the unit conversion you'll need) below where I'm converting inches to miles if you need a refresher on unit conversions. In this exercise, you'll use the metric system, which is easier, but the concept is the same.
