Math 112
Welcome to Statistics!!
I feel fortunate and privileged to be working with you this semester to assist you in achieving your educational goals. I truly look forward to getting to know you and to help you develop an understanding and appreciation for statistics as a particularly useful tool in the information age in which we live today.
This semester should be a positive learning experience for both, you and me. After almost 30 years of teaching, I am excited to implement in this class a method of instruction that is fairly new to me. I have been a lecturer for my entire teaching career, and as a result of doing math everyday, I have become very good at it. Now, I will take a different role in the classroom. We are going to be working in small groups, and I will be circulating around the room to make sure that we are making progress and moving in the right direction. By doing this, you will have more opportunities to do math while in class, and you will develop you problem-solving skills and your communication skills, which will serve you well regardless of the career you chose to pursue.
I hope you believe me when I tell you that our classroom and my office will be safe, nurturing places for you to learn. I will treat all your questions with dignity and respect, and I will do my very best to help you learn the content in this course. It is very important that you contact me whenever you need a little help to get through the material in the class.
Please read the syllabus by clicking the "Course Overview" icon below. I will answer any questions you have abouit it in class.
I look forward to a successful semester and to meeting you in person.
