Meet Your Instructor:
Hi Everyone!
I am a 59-year-old grandmother of 4. I have lived in Whittier, CA for the last 40 years and will probably die there. I have an A.S. in Paralegal studies from Rio Hondo Community College, B.A. in English from Cal State Fullerton and a M.A. in English from Southern New Hampshire University. I taught high school English for one year. My emphasis is in gender roles and feminist studies. I am interested with how it pertains to the Hispanic culture. The reason I chose to teach at the community college is that I want to help students such as myself who just need a little more explanation to understand the concepts that were being taught. I am an English instructor who loves to read, analyze, discuss and research, but only tolerate writing. Edgar Allan Poe, William Faulkner, Toni Morrison, James Joyce, Edith Wharton, Kate Chopin and Henry James are my favorite authors and in that order. I am a very straight forward and frank, this is who I am kind of a person, which some people are uncomfortable with it. I have scleroderma, an autoimmune disease, and fibromyalgia that gets in my way of doing everything I want to do and it is frustrating, but I am doing my best to keep on moving along. I am here to help you get through your English courses that are necessary at your stay at Cerritos College.
