Overview

Geology principally controls landscapes, but the climate of a region also plays an important role in making the landscape look the way it does.

In this assignment, you'll have an opportunity to apply what you've learned about weathering and mass wasting to interpreting the processes shaping desert landscapes and consider the role that water and lack thereof play in shaping Earth's surface.

Instructions

Complete the assigned readings and watch the lecture and other videos. This should prepare you for this exercise.

Study the data table, then complete the matching exercise. You have three attempts and no time limit.

Learning Objectives

  • Students can describe the role weathering, mass wasting, and erosion play in shaping Earth's surface and can provide and/or identify examples of each of these processes
  • Students can describe the evolution of landforms and geologic structures in the context of constructive and/or destructive geologic processes
  • Describe the weathering and erosional processes of deserts
