Overview

In this chapter we work on identifying what type of hypothesis test is needed for different situations and then we will let our TI-84 do the hard work for us.

In this chapter we will focus on the following Course Outcome:

Determine and interpret levels of statistical significance including p-values
Formulate hypothesis involving samples from two populations
Interpret the output of a technology-based statistical analysis
Select the appropriate technique for testing a hypothesis test and interpret the result

Identify appropriate hypothesis test for given scenario
- Single mean with known population standard deviation
- Single mean with unknown population standard deviation

- Two independent means with known population standard deviation

Identify the two parameters and assign appropriate symbols
Construct hypotheses (null and alternative) using the appropriate notation

Calculate results for a hypothesis test (p-value)

- 10.1 HW problems: Practice #1-15 all (Notice that you are only choosing which hypothesis test would be needed for each problem from options a-f)

For the following problems use the reference sheet provided by the instructor that we used for Ch 10 notes and activity.

For the following problems, identify the two parameters in context of the problem and identify appropriate symbols, identify the hypotheses and identify the claim, then use a TI-84 calculator to find the p-value. After finding the p-value, write your decision and write your conclusion in context of the problem.
