Introduction

Your at home laboratory will investigate the relationship between temperature and rate of weathering.  You will need to get a few items: Antacid and Pain Reliever Effervescent Tablets (Alka - Seltzer), hot water, cold water, and a stopwatch (or phone). With every experiment, you will need to make a hypothesis (predicted outcome).  Do you think the tablet will dissolve faster and in warm water, cold water, or the same time to dissolve? The procedure is simple: 1) put the tablet in warm water and record the time to dissolve 2) put another tablet in cold water and record the time to dissolve 3) record any observations about what you saw happening.  You need to take a photo of your experiment, create a simple data table and create graph for your data. Your table should be titled Table 1. and your graph should be titled Graph 1. The laboratory conclusion should begin a statement if the data supported or rejected the hypothesis. Then you should give examples from both the table and graph to describe the relationship between temperate and rate of weathering. Look at the label on the effervescent tablet package and attempt to describe the chemistry of what happens when you place the tablet in the water (did you observe and gasses, if yes which ones?).  Also try to explain the science principle or the *why* of the conclusion and what happen in the experiment.
